Tara Wind Farm supports Tara Sports Shears

Tara Wind Farm proudly supported Tara Sports Shears through funding that enabled the purchase of portable sheep panels for the 2026 Tara Sports Shears Competition. The new panels were successfully used at the 2026 event, helping to improve event operations, support animal welfare outcomes and accommodate the growing number of competitors.
“The Tara Sports Shears Competition continues to grow each year, attracting competitors and spectators from across Queensland and Australia,” Tara Sports Shears committee member Jessica Norford said.
“The funding enabled us to purchase portable sheep panels that significantly improved the flow and efficiency of this year’s competition. The panels also supported improved animal welfare outcomes throughout the event. They will now remain at the Tara Showgrounds and be available for use by other community groups and events, ensuring this investment continues to benefit our community well into the future.”
The 2026 Tara Sports Shears Competition was a successful event attracting 50 competitor nominations across the shearing and wool handling events and receiving outstanding support from the local community and visitors from across Queensland.
The portable sheep panels will continue to improve event operations and animal welfare outcomes at future Tara Sports Shears competitions while providing a valuable community asset for other local events held at the Tara Showgrounds. This funding supports the long-term sustainability of Tara Sports Shears, helping the competition continue to create opportunities for future generations while delivering lasting benefits for the Tara region, local businesses and the wider community.
