Vestas’ Tara Wind Farm is proud to sponsor the Tara Polocrosse Club to improve and maintain the playing fields at the Tara Showgrounds.

The Tara Polocrosse Club is a not-for-profit sports club dedicated to the growth and development of equine sports in the Western Downs region. The Club caters to players and supporters of all ages and skill levels, offering training, competitions, and community events.

Tara Wind Farm is providing $3,000 in sponsorship towards the purchase of a professional-grade spike lawn aerator to prepare the playing surfaces at the Tara Showgrounds.

The Showgrounds are a central hub for the region’s social, recreational and sporting activities, including the annual polocrosse carnival, attracting participants and visitors across Queensland and beyond.

Club representative, Nakia Sillitoe, applied for funding through the Tara Wind Farm Community Grants and Sponsorship Program, which supports community-based organisations, initiatives, and events in the Western Downs Local Government Area.

“Due to the range of events held at the Showgrounds, the fields require continuous maintenance,” Club representative, Nakia Sillitoe, said.

“By investing in quality field maintenance equipment, the Club can enhance the sporting experience for participants and visitors, reduce the risk of injuries, and ensure the Showgrounds can continue to host successful events in the future, including the Queensland Polocrosse Zone Titles 2025 on 5-6 July, and the annual Tara Polocrosse Club Carnival.

“While the Tara Polocrosse Club is leading the investment into the Showground maintenance, the improved playing surfaces will benefit multiple user groups that also host events at the site, including the Tara Campdraft Association, regional sporting associations and social events such as the camel races. These groups will benefit from improved turf conditions without additional cost.”

Tara Wind Farm’s Project Manager, Alexander Normoyle, said, “We are pleased to be sponsoring a local not-for-profit organisation that will benefit multiple user groups and events.”
